Two years ago at the Rotary District 7150 Youth Leadership Workshop at Cazenovia College, two G. Ray Bodley High School students decided they could help change the world a little bit.
The students had recently attended a Fulton Rotary Club meeting where the presenter was one of the "Lost Boys of Sudan," Salva Dut. Dut is a Rotarian in the Pittsford, N.Y. Rotary Club and a student at SUNY Brockport. Dut, fellow Pittsford Rotarians and several Rochester area churches had raised enough money to buy a well-drilling machine and had shipped it to the Sudan. The cost of drilling a well was from $5,000 to $10,000.
The two students decided that they could raise $5,000 to help drill a well, which also gives the donor naming rights, and decided to sell bottles of water to raise the necessary funds. {Full Story}
